Italian Family

I stopped in for a meal with some old Italian friends tonight.  The tradition of the Italian family meal is an inspiration.  The man of the house who, in this case, was a formula 1 race car driver, carpet expert and espresso machine vandal, explained the rules of the table.

“There a is a an old a expression, they’t says a…” he said…

“…whoever is at a the table… is excluded a”.

He mean’t that you could speak freely about any topic, voice any opinion, without the risk of offending your companions… because your comments only apply to those NOT at the table.

This rule doesn’t seem to extend to comments like “You Italians are really fucked up!”
